We have met with the project team that is creating the proposals and plans for the new Health Centre in Doune.

We had a formal discussion about the layout design, where we highlighted some issues that were apparent to us. The main issue was that the administration offices and manager’s offices were located in the area that we believe should have been a clinical consultation area, to reduce the amount of walking patients have to do.

We also discussed: choice of doors at the entrance; the door to the accessible WC; the Baby Changing facilities; and provision for those with hearing loss (which is a growing issue due to the ageing population).

Our input has resulted in some improvement to the layout but we feel that the overall design is still missing ‘good practice’ elements.
